Our Farm

We are Matt and Betsy, owners of a little farm on the edge of two growing communities in Central Iowa. In 2012 we purchased our tiny farm with the intention of raising our family here and being able to enjoy a little bit of the country life. We created a garden space, a small orchard and bought chickens our very first spring. Eventually, we decided if we could get the hang of raising chickens, maybe we could try something bigger. We found ourselves raising a very small herd of Nigerian Dwarf dairy goats. Since then we’ve added Kunekune pigs to our farm as we continue to find ways to learn and experiment as homesteaders on our tiny slice of heaven.

In 2020 the world changed and so did we. We realized there was far more to life than what we were living. Matt left his career in teaching, not an easy decision for someone who likes routine and stability. We had more time and more flexibility which created more opportunities to dream. We had our first kidding in 2021, welcoming a handful of baby goats to our farm. Soon thereafter, we began our first milking season and quickly realized we had more than enough milk and needed to find a solution. We drank it, made ice cream, cheese and spent nearly 8 months creating the perfect combination of clean ingredients for our current goat milk body butter. The following spring, we began opening our farm to the public to visit our baby animals, attend the always enjoyable, goat yoga and to be a tiny getaway for our community.

Whether you’re picking up a body butter or egg order or visiting the farm for pumpkins or Christmas trees, we desire to let others experience the joys of the farm without having to deal with the not so fun stuff, like blizzards, manure and runaway piglets.
