The decisions you make are a choice of values that reflect your life in every way.

Hobbies. We all have them whether they have titles or not. Golfing, fishing, sewing, cooking, shopping, etc. They fill our time when we have a choice. They’re entertaining, fun, engaging. Our farm initially was just that. A hobby. We started with chickens, 15 to be exact. But we had a pasture and figured it shouldn’t be empty. So, we added three bottle lambs, Timothy, Blossom and Clover. They spent more time out of the pasture than in and we eventually sold them after a year.
Our pasture was growing and mowing it often wasn’t exactly fun, so we brought in two miniature donkeys, Jack and Jenny. We knew nothing about equine and these two had rarely been handled so they were not overly excited to be here. Over time they can became good friends and we all loved them dearly. But during the pandemic in 2020, our farrier decided not to return and we couldn’t find another one for just two donkeys. A day met with many tears, we sold them to a horse farm in Southern Iowa.
We knew we needed a better plan. We decided we would not bring on any animal onto our farm with making sure it had a purpose and could give us something in return. We began to explore goats, specifically Nigerian Dwarf as they were smaller, only getting 60-70 lbs full grown and had very high butterfat content in their milk at nearly 6-10%. In the spring of 2021 we added our first four females and eventually added two males so we could try some of this delicious milk. After all, you can’t have milk without babies. And let me tell you, there’s nothing on this planet much cuter than a baby goat.
What started as a hobby, started to turn into something more, once we realized we couldn’t consume the amount of milk we were getting each day. So, we decided to try a few things: cheese, ice cream, lotion, etc.
It was all amazing! But, we decided to step into body butter first. A thicker, luxurious body lotion made with the freshest and cleanest ingredients. And if you’ve tried a goat milk product for your skin you probably already know it’s easily one of the best things your skin will ever encounter. Naturally hydrating and exfoliating, it has the ability to repair and replenish skin all while being so very gentle. The pH of goat milk is almost identical to your skin, therefore minimizing irritations and redness commonly found in other skin care products. It’s liquid goat- I mean gold! Read about the benefits here.
Why goats? Well, not only did their small stature fit our small farm, but we could get something in return. And now, we can share it with all of you!
